INTERVIEW WITH OMYRA SAMADI

1.What inspired you to work for Tommy Hilfiger?

“It accidentally went this way. Because of my first job at a PR bureau where I was an account manager for Tommy Hilfiger, I continued growing in an internal function at Tommy Hilfiger. Along the way I really started to love the spirit of TH and the things TH stands for. That’s what inspired me to work internal for this brand.”

2.How would you describe your personal style?

“My clothing style is pretty basic. I’m not an supporter of trends, because I make myself always very aware that not all trends are made for me. Think about this with a vision on bodyshapes, length, weight, etc. I always really try to dress myself what’s good for my bodyshape and length. Apart from that I’m also a very emotional dresser, so that means I dress myself to what I feel when I wake up.”

3.What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

“My biggest strengths are the following: I’m very understanding for other people’s situations. With my job I’m continuous around people. Both extern parties as intern parties. Because of this I became very good in adjusting myself and also understand the wishes and needs of others way better. On the other hand I’m very social and a chameleon, which causes I can deal with lot’s of different people. Because of that I’m also very good in adjusting myself in different situations.

A weakness is that I’m very impatient and punctual, and because of that I actually expect others to be that way as well. So I’m working on that on a daily base, in my work life and my personal life. (Especially in traffic, then I’m so incredible impatient..).

4.By what things in life do you get energy and inspiration?

“I get a lot of energy from my job and the people I’m working with on a daily basis. But also very much from spending time with my friends and family that do such different things that I am doing. When I’m spending time with them I can just be Omyra and not always be that PR girl from Tommy Hilfiger.”

5.What are your biggest dreams for the future?

“To still do the work that I’m doing at the moment. To do more fun projects, grow on  a personal level and business wise. Further I live pretty much by the day so I see how my life goes and what beautiful things will happen in the future.”

6.What have you learned in the past few years about yourself?

“That I can handle a lot in life. So also when life is less fun, I can pretty good anticipate and visualize well, so I can pick up the thread pretty quickly. And I really learned that you have to make the best of everything in life by yourself. That’s a very nice thought to have control over this, but it also has to do with getting older and and gaining in experience.”

7.What’s the most special moment in your carreer till now?

“Oeh those are way to many to tell, but all the beautiful travels that I get to do for my job, but also all the special people I got to meet. Those who took care I got to witness a lot of special moments in my career.”

8.What would you do if you couldn’t fail in anything?

“Then I would try even harder to help the people around me, or people that could use my help in general.”

9.What does success mean to you?

“Success means to me that you find peace and rest in the things you do. (So be content with your role and the things that belong with that. So not want to grow all the time, and want more and more and more). And the biggest success: do what you really love! But ofcourse I’m already so driven on result so I think success is also a piece of a recognition by getting some kind of result.”

10.What for advice would you give me to accomplish my goals?

“Work hard. Be humble. Find out for yourself at what moment you’re the most happy and what you have to do to be in that place. I had it figured out pretty early what things you had to accomplish to be where I want to be. According to a list you can work goal wise.”
