1.What inspired you to be a stylist?
“It was just a passion I always had, I was always busy with making creating outfits and I also always wanted clothes for my birthday. I was always busy with recreating my closet. From a young age it was my passion and I was simply busy with it day and night.”
2.What’s your biggest dream for the future?
“For Fashion Week to get international recognition. That’s really a dream. And I would like to get more marketing and strategy for 8 The Agency. For the company to extend more and become bigger. That we really become THE marketing and strategy company, for sure in The Netherlands.”
3.What skills are necessary for a successfull stylist?
“You have to have the feeling for it, always be interested in the history of fashion, really want to know what eras things come from and be very natural. So you have to have a second sensor in scanning things, to perceive things, to read and see a lot. For example, go visit exhibitions, to watch movies and listen to music. And to feed yourself by inspirational things, that’s the most important thing I guess.”
4.By what things in life do you get energy and inspiration?
“I get energy and inspiration from music, art exhibitions, an amazing movie and vintage. I really love if you can trace back good styling from something original. I don’t like copying, but I love originality and that you always know what your source is. To have your own style and creating your own identity by that.”
5.How would you describe your personal style?
“In the base classic, but next to that a Bohemian, Parisian and Rock ‘n Roll style.”
6.What means creativity to you?
“Individuality, renewal, a good base, to improve yourself over and over. Always looking for more knowledge. To know more things to get yourself to an even better result.”
7.What are the most fun sides of your job?
“That every day is different, no day is the same, I meet so many people. I meet so many amazing, different kinds of people along the way. I love the that you build a network, travelling, diversity.. I think there’s endless fun sides on my job actually.”
9.What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail in anything?
“If I couldn’t fail in anything? Do what I do now.”
10.What does fashion mean to you?
“Fashion is my adrenaline. My energy and my oxygen. Fashion is very important to me. I couldn’t live without it, and would not want to as well.”
11.Do you have any tips for me as a starting stylist?
“You have to be curious, you have to be eager and you have to work really hard. There don’t excist good things where you don’t work hard for. I always say ‘good things don’t come easy’ and that’s really true. If you really want to accomplish something you have to work hard for it. Things that come easy, can also very easily go. If you really want something, you just simply have to fight for it.”
